romancingmcshep, so you know the ending is a happy one! The idea came from an old ST:TOS fanfic I read many years ago in which Nurse Chapel was staked out in a snake pit and Spock had to rescue her without either one getting bitten. Oh, yeah, and they were both naked. :-) I took it off to Pegasus from there, stuffing in as many movie and television references as I possibly could. It wasn't supposed be this long and I was writing it up to the very last minute of posting, so no beta. All mistakes are my own. It was too long for LJ, so I posted to AO3.
