Maybe John and Rodney get a little drunk at Rodney's bachelor party and maybe John is sad, because things just aren't going to be the same and Rodney's like, no man, we'll always have beer on the pier, nothing has to change and then there are feelings and more drinking and maybe they decide the logical thing to do is to get bbf married. So they do. Obviously. And then they go home to their respective beds and only realize they're married when they run into Lorne the next day and he makes a comment about sending them a copy of the wedding, which he recorded on his phone.
Or maybe John and Rodney got Vegas married because they were lonely and sad when they were exiled to Earth by the Asurans but then with the excitement of their return and everything that happens after they kind of forget that they're actually married.
