I thought this would be a good time to ask, what do you love about this pairing? How do you see their romance developing? Friendship developing into something more? A rough road of denial?

Do you have a favorite trope? As you can see from the picture, I love an AU and I'm not ashamed to flaunt it.

This is a great time to share the love.

eta because I couldn't resist

This says we're married!

Loves so hard.

*grins*

I see them as not even recognizing friendship, let alone anything more initially. They just wind up spending so much time together than gradually it dawns on them that no one else's company compares. The don't feel as comfortable with anyone else to be completely themselves. And while each of them *notices* the other (I mean, really, how could they not) for the most part they don't act on it--not at first. It's like each of them is looking the opposite direction when one of them notices the other. For me, there has to be a moment of reckoning, an event that makes them realize what they've been avoiding. They don't talk about it--they just act.

And then they spend a lot of time being stupid and not realizing what they have is the real deal. That comes slowly over time too. :-)

I feel like John and Rodney just kept missing each other. Rodney liked John the first year of the expedition (god, his reactions to Chaya are so telling), but he eventually decides John's not going to look his way, so he tries to move on (with varying success, given his jealousy every time John gets attention). John, meanwhile, totally missed Rodney's interest the first year, but damn if he isn't looking now. I feel like Rodney's relationship with Jennifer is going to push him to a place where he has to make a decision. Keller seems to like Atlantis well enough, but she's also young. She might want to start a family, and start it somewhere that feels safer than Atlantis. Rodney loves Atlantis not just for the amazing research possibilities, but also because it gave him something I don't think he had much of, growing up: acceptance, team/family. Keller had that growing up, could return to Earth and find it again. Rodney would feel like this is it: these are his people, his team, his home. They know him and love him anyway. This makes Rodney cling harder to Atlantis. Besides his unwillingness to give up his team, I think he'd have a REALLY hard time saying goodbye to John. Those feelings never really disappeared, and who would look after John once he's gone? Track his radiation exposure? Eat the extra dessert he grabs?

I love the way John and Rodney just fit. I love that they can play around together, racing cars, talking superheroes, playing Ancient games that turn out to be real :P I love that when something big goes down, they inevitable look to each other. They trust in each others abilities, and to be honest, I don't think there's a damn thing they WOULDN'T do for each other. John talked a man into killing himself in a horrific way; Rodney spent the rest of his life working to bring John home. Rodney called for only John when he was losing himself, and John refused to say goodbye.

Oh man, a favorite trope? ALL OF THEM. I'M ALWAYS A SLUT FOR TROPES. About 98% of my fic ideas are for AU's, so I'd say I love those too :P
