Prompt claiming time

You may chose a prompt from this year, last year, or pick a prompt of your own choosing.

Last year's prompts.

This year's prompts under a cut.

# 56. - A dateless and desperate Rodney McKay turns to John Sheppard; advice columnist. I didn't say it was good advice.

#57. - John and Rodney are reporters working for rival (pick a media - TV/newspaper/etc) companies, when the companies unexpectedly merge and now they have to work together

#58. - John and Rodney were best friends through high school but went off to different coasts to different colleges for different careers and drifted apart. Ten years after college graduation, they find themselves back home.

#59. - Single parent John and single parent Rodney find themselves dealing with an 'unfair' teacher who seems to be picking on their kids.

#60. - Now that DADT is repealed and gay marriage is openly supported, the military wants to appear supportive of single sex couples. As the "known" gay military commander of Atlantis, John is pressured to find a couple in his command to be 'representative' for publicity purposes. Rather than put someone else on the spot, John decides maybe he can ask Rodney to pretend with him.

#61. - Any variation of the 'professors at the same college' trope; I love competent!John and sassy Rodney; maybe they can even win Rodney's Nobel together!

#62. - Song for the Road by David Ford. Lyrics and Vid can be found HERE.

#63. - I would love to see our boys when Atlantis is returning to Pegasus after season 5. Something about Rodney being torn between staying with Jennifer who wants to stay on Earth and John who is returning with the city. I think we all know how it should end up ;)

#64. - That au that was going around Tumblr: I got drunk and broke into my friend's apartment to sleep it off except hey when my friend get a cat, crap this isn't my friend's place but hey you're pretty cute *eyebrow waggle*

#65. - Also truth serum! Always accidental truth telling.

#66. - And shouty bickering and one them yells that he loves the other one actually, and things get really quiet.

#67. - Chuck or Zelenka is running a pool for when they finally get together and they find out and ruin it (by making sure no one wins or by teaming up with someone, making sure they win, and splitting the prize)

#68. - What were the Atlantis crew doing in the various SG-1 alternate realities? Firemen!verse? Continuum? "2010"? That 'verse that Dr. Carter and Kowalski were from? Were they ever cloned by Loki? Robot duplicates?

#69. - University AU where Rodney and Radek are working on their thesis and Radek decides to play a prank so when they order pizza Radek gives the instruction "send your cutest delivery guy" and John shows up with pizza and Rodney stammers at him and tips way too much because John's just so cute.

#70. - Dotcom billionaire Rodney Mckay has a crush on good-looking, intelligent John Sheppard who works for a rival company, whom he frequently runs into at parties. What Rodney doesn't know, however, is that John is also a superhero...but the one hero Rodney can't stand. (Rodney can be a superhero too, or not).

#71. - Rodney knows Major Sheppard left the Antarctica base without agreeing to go to Pegasus. He decides to use his remaining few weeks to convince this Sheppard to go, and is willing to promise anything...

#72. - A fic to go with This Gifset.

bodyguard au: John Sheppard is the only live-in bodyguard Rodney McKay’s ever had that’s lasted longer than two weeks. McKay has a nasty habit of getting caught up in the excitement of his work and taking off with only a vague note (‘going to meet some monkeys’) to hint at his whereabouts, making him an easy target. But John? John always finds his man.

#73. - I need whump. Please I am begging you, torture Rodney for a bit and then have John make it all better. I don't really have a specific story idea, but I need Rodney miserable, fragile, and hurt and then John taking care of him and then it coming out that it's because John love him.

#74. - Truth or dare! Bored, drunk, or alien ritual, but something inspires the boys to play truth or dare.

#75. - Jeannie invites them both to visit, and she either assumes they are already together or conspires to get them together

#76. - Same as above, but she needs the boys to watch Madison and when she comes back, they're completely worn out and she finds them napping together adorably.

#77. - John and Rodney are together, except one of them overhears a conversation which just confirms what they always knew: they are not good enough for the other - in my mind it is John that feels inadequate. John begins to withdraw from Rodney, who has no idea what is happening and begins to think that John no longer loves him. Everything culminates in an explosive argument, they make up, and live happily ever after!

#78. - Ugh I am such a sucker for misunderstanding/jealousy fics ^_^ Right so, there's a new guy - preferably military but a smarty; has a degree in something so that he can have an actual conversation with Rodney - who is seriously hot, and has dimples when he smiles and all the women, and some of the men too, swoon after him 'cos he smells real good all of the time, and he's like really tall, Ronon tall and looks great in his BDU's!

Anyway, so he gets transferred to Atlantis, after working under Cheyenne where he used to chat to the scientists about their work, and strikes up a friendship with Rodney. John of course is super jealous, tries everything within his power as military commander to keep the two apart . . . I kinda want Lorne to confront him about it, John reluctantly tells him everything, and then I don't know what happens next :D you decide!

#79. - A Tron AU. One is a program and the other is a user and they Fall In Lub?

#80. - Fairy tale AU where Prince John arrives to save the 'damsel in distress' who turns out to be Prince Rodney, only to find that he's saved himself using science - something logical and simple but not magical please - Rodney sasses him of course and then heads home.

Only to have the situation repeated again and again (Rodney's so special all the baddies want him :) and each time they get to know each other a little better until someone really smart and evil (eg. Kolya) captures Rodney as bait against John, they save each other, declare there love and live happily ever after ^_^

#81. - How's about a really near death experience in which John actually thought Rodney was dead for a few minutes or something. Then john finds out Rodney isn't dead and just reacts in some romantic way in front of everyone and then zelenkas just in the background like "I knew they were in love now pay up!" To everyone else in the room.

#82. - - Infamous and dashing Captain John Sheppard of the HMS Atlantis and his particular friend, the eminent naturalist and astronomer Doctor McKay and their glorious adventures in the Age of Sail.

#83. - After his dishonourable discharge from the Air Force, John is working as a private pilot. One day his client is an irascible physiscist named Rodney McKay and John's life is changed forever as he finds himself falling head over heels in love.

#84. - John and Rodney make a porno (totally amateur, for whatever reasons). ::grins:: With Rodney being all awkward and John being all goofy.

#85. - Five years ago, famous archeologist Rodney McKay is on a dig when an earthquake traps him under a boulder in a cave. Certain he is going to die, Rodney documents his entrapment with a video diary. Toward the end of his ordeal, he began hallucinating about being rescued by a messy-haired, hazel eyed, wise-cracking hero.

John Sheppard, part of an elite SAR team that travels the globe, is called in to dig Rodney out, but Rodney is pinned in a crevasse under a five ton boulder. Knowing his foot is not salvageable, the decision is made to cut it off, with John wedging himself into the crevasse to do the amputation and bring Rodney out. The process of talking Rodney through the rescue until they can reach him takes hours. John is the only one who can keep him responsive.

Now, Rodney has written a book based on the event, which has been made into a movie. He's making the interview rounds, and everyone wants to see him with the man who rescued him. But John is certain Rodney wants nothing to do with him. He's avoided the publicity, has refused to read the book, etc. What he doesn't know is that Rodney can't stop thinking about him, and has been actively encouraging the publicity hounds to pull John into the media circus so he can talk to him again.

#86. - John Sheppard inherits Sheppard Industries on the death of his estranged father, only to discover that Sheppard Industries is involved in so much more than John ever knew. Among other things, SI keeps a semi-tame brilliant-but-arrogant inventor on staff. Dr. Rodney McKay is responsible for most of the weapons and computer science advances in the company, including advanced tech that belongs in a sci-fi TV show. While Rodney tries to convince John that SI needs to pull back from military applications and seek out more science-based projects, someone decides that Rodney McKay should come work for them, and kidnaps him. John pulls out the entire arsenal at his disposal to bring Rodney back safely.

#87. - Rodney McKay, working with the SGC on nanite technology in an attempt to find a permanent solution to the Replicator issue, is called in to investigate a derelict, single-man spacecraft found by the Daedalus. The ship has taken heavy damage; the cockpit was exposed to space by an explosion. All that remains of the pilot are video logs and part of a hand inside a glove. Having half-fallen in love with the pilot from watching the logs, Rodney disobeys orders and reconstructs the pilot through the nanite technology. When John Sheppard tells Rodney that he's descended from the Ancients, and come bringing a warning of impending danger from Pegasus, not everyone is pleased John was raised from the dead. Rodney must make a choice between the Earth he knows or going back to Pegasus with John--whom the SGC doesn't trust and wants contained--or dead.

#88. - Rodney is a photographer who has a reputation for being lousy with people but a genius with the lens. When a photo of John Sheppard caught unaware goes viral, Rodney seeks him out and pleads with him to become his model, but John wants no part of it, having sustained severe burns to his body after his helicopter went down in Afghanistan. Rodney makes love to John with his camera, proving to John, and to the world, how beautiful he is.

#89. - Years ago, Rodney was involved in a bank holdup as one of the hostages. John Sheppard was an off-duty cop who was also taken hostage, and he was instrumental in keeping things under control until the time was right to make his move, rescuing all the hostages without any fatalities. When Rodney reads that John Sheppard is being investigated for being a dirty cop, he doesn't believe it, and acts to clear Johns' name, whether he wants the help or not. John is being framed for a crime he didn't commit, and he'll need all of Rodney's considerable resources to find out who is behind it and bring them down. The intervening years have been hard on John however, and he's lost faith in the system and himself.

#90. - No one can get an interview with the reclusive John Sheppard, a former military pilot who retired to a remote homestead in Alaska and then proceeded to write a bestselling novel. Reporter (and self-avowed city slicker) Rodney McKay is determined to get Sheppard's story, as he is tired of covering the puff pieces for his paper. He talks someone into flying him out to John's island, only to get stranded there when a major snowstorms hits.

#91. - The rumor mill has it that Rodney is going to ask Jennifer to marry him. Atlantis has been stuck on Earth for almost a year--Jennifer is making noises about leaving the SGC and starting her own practice to be closer to her family. When Rodney comes to John asking for help broaching 'a delicate question to someone I love, when I'm not sure what the reaction will be', John reluctantly agrees to help walk him through the possible scenarios, never realizing Rodney is trying to sound John out about their own relationship.

#92. - Aeronautics grad student John Sheppard missed out on getting a TAing position in his department and ends up being taken on sight unseen as a research assistant to the new Professor McKay, who came to the university this year with a huge DoD grant and a demand for no classload other than high level invitation only seminars. On his first day, John waits impatiently in McKay's office, only to have what he assumes is some undergrad barge in. Rodney starts his first teaching position by having some jerk (who looked smart enough on paper to do some of the grunt work on his theories) snark at him and try to throw him out of his new office. On a whim, he claims to be his own teaching assistant and tells John that "Dr McKay" doesn't do office hours and will mostly be sending out instructions on what simulations and calculations need attention via email. And wackiness ensues.

#93. - In an AU of BDSMverse AUs, doms - especially those without a collared submissive - are considered unsuited for positions involving teamwork, management or negotiation, due to their dynamic tendency to try to control others and unwillingness to compromise. In spite of his successes after Sumner's death, Sheppard is almost certainly going to be replaced as Military Commander of Atlantis unless they can convince the IOA that he's been in a non-public relationship with a submissive the whole time... Like maybe his teammate and friend, Rodney?

#93b. - The other scientists get confused when McKay and Sheppard announce their relationship and move in together. Sure, John is hot if you like skinny wookies, but does Rodney really think he can have a partnership with someone so far below his intellectual level? Rodney defends him as being smart enough to bounce things off of (No Mary Sue supergenius John) but more importantly, someone who he can have fun with and communicate with on a personal rather than theoretical level. (And he's is hot, which doesn't hurt.

#70 + extra

#70, please! And I'm also working on a prompt of my own, so hopefully I'll have two fics to share next month.

Woo!

Let's hope so! LOL!

That sounds like a fun trip-and-a-half. Looking forward to it. :)

[identity profile] brumeier.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Me too! LOL!

[identity profile] shetiger.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. Mine is based of #33 from last year, though it deviates quite a bit from the original prompt. (Still Rodney on a space station with robot John, though.)

[identity profile] shetiger.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
I hope it works!

[identity profile] brumeier.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, that sounds interesting!

[identity profile] darkmoore.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Could I maybe do the "penguins" thing? It's not in this list here but I have a feeling I might be inspired to write ancient-tech-made-them-daddies fic. :)

It not I may give prompt 42 a try.

Thanks!

[identity profile] brumeier.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
You and the mpreg. LOL! 42 sounds good too.

[identity profile] darkmoore.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
*pouts* I love me some m-preg. But I can do ancient incubator, too, if you think that's more interesting. In any case they need to b e DADDIES!

Hm, you know maybe it would be even more fun if they DIDN'T have 9 months to get used to the idea *wanders off to think about ancient incubators with time dilation fields*

[identity profile] brumeier.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
There it is! LOL! Got you thinking. Whatever way you decide to go, it's daddies for the win!

[identity profile] sgamadison.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I became enamored with a prompt of my own that I didn't share with the class--may I use it? :-)

[identity profile] sgamadison.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay!

[identity profile] clotpolelis.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'd love to use 67! And/or 90? I'm not sure if we can claim more than one!

[identity profile] brumeier.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, 90 sounds cool! I hope you can do both because I totally want to read both. ::grins::

[identity profile] reeby10.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like to do #8 from last year. And if I have time (a BIG if), then I'll give #93 a try as well I think...

[identity profile] brumeier.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Both good prompts. Good luck!

[identity profile] reeby10.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I'm excited about them :D

[identity profile] reeby10.livejournal.com 2015-01-10 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
haha well I hope I don't disappoint!

[identity profile] resqueln.livejournal.com 2015-01-12 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, I don't think I can take part right now. Are there any rules that let you fill a prompt later on? With due credit of course? Don't worry if not, just thought I'd try my luck. :)

[identity profile] resqueln.livejournal.com 2015-01-13 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
That's awesome, thank you. :)
