Rodney is the leading scientist of a research station/weather station on an remote island. When the bi-monthly supply vessel arrives there's not only new coffee on board for Rodney but also some new scientists. One of them is John Sheppard.

a) Rodney is fascinated from the first moment on and struggles (in vain *g*) with the attraction he feels
b) Rodney and John start with a misunderstanding but they have to work together at least the next two months

When I read your first sentence, I thought this was going to go in a mysterious vein: Rodney works on a remote island, and suddenly his radio comes to live with a call that originates on the island...

I really love this idea :D
