Rodney was surrounded by the native children, each one of them vying for his attention, when he looked at me - face clearly begging me to save him. Shaking my head in amusement I made my way to his side shooing the kids away,they gasped and scattered quickly.
Rodney smiled up at me, the grateful one, and I found myself smiling back as a warmth spread in my chest. Reaching out I squeezed his upper arm and his smile changed, softened, as he ducked his head. I could feel my own smile change, soften, as the affection I felt for him swept over me.
I wanted so badly to lean in and nuzzle him, maybe press a kiss behind his ear, show him that I loved him, show him- Wait what?!? LOVE Rodney? I? LOVE? RODNEY?
While I was still wrapped in my thoughts, he moved away, and instantly I missed him. Oh. I do love him.
