FIC: Separated by a Memory

romancingmcshepJust about squeezing in under the wire with my contribution to romancingmcshep! I’m returning to fandom after five years away so probably still haven’t got quite under the skin of my characters again as much as I would have liked to, however, I wanted to take part to get back in the swing of things.
I read through the prompts for inspiration. This paragraph from one of the comments, left by elayna, caught my attention:
I read these comments then had checked my Facebook, where there was a picture of a white guy with messy dark hair and no memory of who he is. The police are hoping that someone will recognize him.
The two fandoms I was drawn back into were NCIS and Stargate Atlantis, which were always two of my favourite fandoms. The little story I had in mind is a crossover with characters from both fandoms, but kind of took on a life of its own. One of my secondary characters also demanded more attention and a bigger part of the story than I originally intended, he turned out to be an integral part of the story though, and I had a little fun with him too. All in all, though, this really is Rodney’s story.
I have proof-read this through myself, although it hasn’t been beta’d as I only finished it last night, so if anyone does see any glaring errors please let me know.

Summary: Rodney McKay has been waiting for John Sheppard to return from DC for two days but the man isn't answering his cellphone, much to Rodney's frustration. When one of the Marines on Atlantis suddenly sees a photo of their Military Commander on the USMC Twitter site Rodney has to travel from San Fransisco to DC, only to find that his long time lover has no idea who he is.
