To start off the Fest, we are having a prompt roundup! Prompt suggestions should be left in a comment to this post.
What you consider a prompt is up to you.
Prompts may be anything including, but not limited to, pictures, poetry, or song. You may offer as many prompts for the fest as your romantic heart desires. We'll continue with our shameless begging for prompts until midnight (wherever you are) Jan 8th.
You may leave more than one prompt but please be clear and separate multiple prompts by using numbers or separate lines.
Remember too, since this is not an exchange there is no certainty that your prompt will be chosen but any offered inspiration is greatly appreciated.

Date: 2016-01-03 03:20 am (UTC)What if Rodney doesn't spend a lot of time stumbling around Atlantis mourning his lost John, just buries himself in work?
What if he becomes so productive in projects and research that Radak becomes worried, he never wanted Rodney's job and now his contacts at the SGC are telling him that the IOA is starting to notice.
What if Radak decides to alert Elizabeth that Rodney might not want to resume his former responsibilities.
How would distant!Elizabeth and distant!John figure out how to A) repair their relationships with McKay and B) try to entice McKay back into wanting to resume his roles as department Head and Team member, without diminishing his culpability for Doranda?
How especially John deal with all of this given that he and Rodney were, ahem, close.
When you (unwittingly) relieve a genius of all his distractions, what happens? Bonus points for Rodney believably oblivious to the machinations till the end, but was he?

This ^^ is a great question.
And... not to hijack your prompt, but it makes me wonder if, at the happy resolution, Rodney might say to John that they need to tone down their "closeness" while he finishes his latest genius project. And John goes "Wut??? (but I am beautiful and charming and I forgive you and all). And Rodney goes, "Sorry, Working, Busy now, cya". I'm smiling just thinking about it.

Date: 2016-01-07 04:39 am (UTC)Good idea, but I probably would not read that story. I wanted to read the story where Elizabeth romances (in a professional way) Rodney back from his total commitment to research and projects, to resuming all the crap that comes from being head of multiple science departments, and going off world all the time.. How to convince an unbound genius to take back the bounds? McKay and Sheppard? I'm a Mcshep so for them, there is no good guy, there is no bad guy, there is them and they fight it out.
I think my point was that watching the episodes, how the hell did McKay handle it all? Head of a department that was over half the population of Atlantis, going off world ( don't get me started). What if his punishment ,for the first time , unbound his abilities?

Date: 2016-01-07 11:18 am (UTC)I didn't at all mean that Rodney would break up with John. I sort of pictured that Rodney, working on pure science, might be enraptured by some project or idea -- and how that might be distracting and joyous.
I really love your idea, and I'm sorry if I sounded as if I didn't. I'm not a writer, so sometimes my comments aren't very graceful.
What if his punishment ,for the first time , unbound his abilities?
I love this idea. ^^ I hope someone writes it.
